SAP Fiori launchpad is a landing page or we can call it a home page for all Fiori apps. A Launchpad will be single window to access and navigate to any applications, making customizing changes, changing default values, adding or removing Fiori apps and so on. SAP Fiori launchpad provides easy way to organize your daily tasks and provides upfront information in the form of pending items or quick charts.

SAP Fiori Launchpad has following components –

  1. Catalogs – Buckets of apps to choose from
  2. Group – Organizing apps into visible groups to users based on role/processes
  3. Tile – Clickable area to access Fiori apps. There can be dynamic or static tiles
  4. Shell Area – This area is on top of Fiori Launchpad to access profile settings, notifications, search etc.
  5. Search Bar – Search bar on Fiori Launchpad is used to access Factsheet apps and searching apps within the scope of the user access
  6. App Finder – This screen will let user add any apps accessible to him as per the role assignment. User can also find apps
  7. Pages and Spaces – Alternative to Catalogs and groups, pages and spaces provides advance and better way to access Fiori apps and organize them

Pages and Spaces —

Pages and spaces are major improvement over business groups which has been used till now. It gives you cleaner view, better apps management capabilities, accessing frequently used apps quickly. The major improvement is in security authorization area, earlier with business group which is assigned in roles, modification in roles needed for any changes. With spaces, only spaces are assigned to the roles and sub elements such as groups, sections can be changed as per the business needs without having to change roles.

Spaces –

Spaces is similar to business group. They serve as an entry point to enter into pages within spaces. There can be multiple pages within one space. A space is represented as a navigation item in the top level navigation. A user may have multiple spaces assigned, which results in multiple entries in the top-level navigation. A space consists of one or multiple pages that are used to further structure the content of a space.

Pages –

A page is part of a space, and a space may have one or multiple pages. Multiple pages allow users to structure the space into multiple self-contained work-contexts. Business roles with fewer apps may use one page per space, whereas business roles with more apps may use multiple pages per space. A page consists of sections that are used to further structure the content.
